AS1, S2 or S3? Understanding the Differences
“Why are there three? They all look the same. Do they really have a difference?”
We hear this quite often when customers first come across the three solutions used with aqua peeling and hydradermabrasion machines.
Although they may look similar, each solution has a different formulation and serves a different purpose. Understanding the differences can help you choose a solution that is more suitable for the treatment and skin needs.
1. S1 Aqua Facial AHA Solution
S1 is the exfoliating solution. It contains AHA ingredients such as glycolic acid and lactic acid, together with ingredients like glycerin, cucumber extract, aloe vera and hyaluronic acid.
AHA works mainly on the surface of the skin by helping to loosen and remove dead skin cells and surface buildup. This can help improve the appearance of dull or uneven-looking skin and leave the skin feeling smoother and refreshed.
S1 is generally suitable when the main focus of the treatment is surface exfoliation and refreshing the skin.
2. S2 Aqua Facial BHA Solution
S2 is the clarifying solution. It contains BHA, together with ingredients such as witch hazel, aloe vera, licorice, cucumber, willow bark and hyaluronic acid.
BHA is commonly used for oily and congested skin because it can work within the pores to help remove excess oil and buildup. This makes S2 a useful option when the treatment is focused more on pore care and clarifying the skin.
For professional treatments, the choice of solution should still depend on the client's skin condition and the recommended treatment protocol.
3. S3 Aqua Facial Moisturising Solution
S3 is the moisturising and hydrating solution. Its formulation includes ingredients such as sodium lactate, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, sodium hyaluronate, aloe vera and allantoin.
Rather than focusing mainly on exfoliation, S3 is designed to provide hydration and help leave the skin feeling soft, comfortable and moisturised.
It can be especially useful when hydration and skin comfort are the main focus of the treatment.
So, What's The Difference?
All three solutions have their own purpose and are formulated differently:
S1 AHA: Focuses on exfoliation and removing surface buildup.
S2 BHA: Focuses on pore care and clarifying, particularly for oily or congested skin.
S3 Moisturising: Focuses on hydration and keeping the skin feeling moisturised and comfortable.
They may look similar, but their formulations are different for a reason. The appropriate solution can be selected according to the treatment being performed and the client's individual skin needs.
